Fuel the light of Jewish life at FGCU
This past Thursday night Stephanie* was still on campus finishing her last finals. She missed the warm Chanukah celebrations back home and yearned to be able to light the Menorah. But here on campus where would she find other Jews to celebrate with? Where would she get a menorah from? How would she be able to light when candles are not allowed in dorms?
As she walked towards the dining hall, she surprisingly noticed a small group of freshman lighting Menorahs on a table outside with Chabad. They greeted her with a warm Happy Hanukah and invited her to join them in lighting the menorah and celebrating together. Now, with a radiating warmth inside, and smile hidden behind her mask, Stephanie's loneliness, stress and longing to celebrate, was replaced with joy from the bright flames of the Menorah.
Chanukah is all about light! Not just the physical flame you are lighting on your menorah at home, but even more so the spiritual light of Jewish pride, warmth and Torah.
This Chanukah you can fuel the light in a student's life and keep the flame of Jewish life at Florida Gulf Coast University burning strong through their college years and beyond.
